Louisiana ... Louisiana has some great state parks...while many in the southern part of the state are closed due to hurricane damage, the rest are open.
One of our favorites it Lake Bruin State Park...it is a small park on a beautiful Mississippi River Oxbow Lake, where you can camp right on the water...it is located about halfway between Vicksburg and Natchez Ms. on the La. side of ol' man river...both are historic cities with much to see and both have riverboats if gambling is your forte'.
Lake Bistineau, near Shreveport La is a beautiful sunken cypress lake
Lake Claiborne, Chemin-a-haut, Lake D'arborne and Caney Lake are all beautiful with good fishing...prices vary from 12 to 18 bucks a night and many have boat rentals, fishing piers and swimming among their amenities

California Okay, I'll chime in with our state park site: http://parks.ca.gov/. My favorite is MacKerricher north of Fort Bragg and Mendocino. Maybe that's because I've been camping in the area since I was a kid and proposed to my wife just north of there while camping right on the beach.  My brother-in-law used to be a California state park ranger too so I visited a few where he worked.

Texas Well, there's always what you can find here:

www.tpwd.state.tx.us

and the black kettle national grasslands, too.
