This state of the art recreation area, located in the Apache
- Sitgreaves National Forest, opened in 1994 as a result of an innovative
partnership between Arizona State Parks, the U.S. Forest Service, Arizona Game
and Fish, the City of Show Low, and corporate sponsors Arizona Public Service
and McCarty Construction Company. Great for full range of camping from tents to
motor homes
Mt.
Baldy wilderness area
A beautiful area for backpack camping. This is a wilderness
area so all of the usual restrictions for wilderness camping apply. Do not cross
the boundary into tribal land. Mt. Baldy is a sacred area that is restricted. If
you are caught in the restricted area you can be arrested and you will be
stripped of your gear at the minimum. Honor the boundary and you will enjoy a
hike through some of the most beautiful sights around.
